我们的使命

The Office of 多样性, 股本, 包容, and 归属感 (DEIB) supports and empowers students, 教师, 工作人员, and community members to build trust, 增加获得, support individuals’ diverse identities, and create spaces for dialog, 学习, 同情, and acceptance on our campuses and in the communities we serve.

This work aligns with our institutional mission of student success, community success, and culture of success.

We also believe that this works aligns with and can be improved through our cultural beliefs:

什么是DEIB?

The 湾大学 mission is Student Success, Community Success, Culture of Success, and we believe that the work of diversity, 股本, 包容 and belonging directly supports this mission. At 湾大学 we believe that diversity is key to individual success, educational excellence and the advancement of knowledge.

多样性

多样性 is a term that references differences in human backgrounds. 它可以包括, but is not limited to diversity of race, 种族, 能力, 宗教, 性, 性别认同, 年龄, ideas and belief systems, socio-economic class, 原籍国, 和更多的. In higher education, we have the opportunity and challenge of bringing a diversity of ideas and individuals into the classroom and creating space for complex, 细致入微的, and productive dialogue.

股本 is not equality. 股本 is focused on insuring that every individual has what they need to be successful and have the outcomes and experiences they aspire to.

包容

A popular way to talk about 包容 is that “all members of the community are invited to the party!” 包容 reflects directly on our work as an institution to make sure that we are as open and accessible as possible to all members of the community.

归属感

A sense of belonging means that we have created an institution where everyone feels welcome, 见过, ,听到. Creating a sense of belonging is about physical space, 学习 environments, social and emotional support, 和更多的.
